求助2003服务器php与mysql如何配置更能跑的快

目前服务器2003CPU：2核  内存：1.5G  硬盘150G  带宽：5M




php与mysql如何配置能跑的更好些，DZ数据库300M，网站空间近4G，日访问量1K多，现在觉得访问速度一般，好像索引也有点问题，所以来这里请教一下PHP与MYSQL的配置，谢谢！或者可以指点一下哪几项配置比较重要，非常感谢！

PHP 什么版本啊，mysql 5.5最新版可能更好

关键在于优化啊

PHP 5.2.14 与 mysql 5.5.27 目前比较好
